      • I've never owned a guitar with a Tune-O-Matic, and I've only owned one with a fixed bridge. I mostly just buy guitars with Floyds on them. What are the pros and cons of a fixed bridge vs. a Tune-O-Matic. I think the Tune-O-Matic looks cooler, but it would be kind of dumb to go with it over the fixed bridge based only on that.
      • Originally designed by the late Ted McCarty of Gibson® Guitar Corporation, the Tune-O-Matic was introduced with the Gibson® Super 400® guitar in 1953 and the Les Paul® Custom in 1954. And I've tried saddles out of TonePros bridges - they don't work. I suspect Gotoh makes the bridges for Epiphone, but even saddles out of a Gotoh bridge I have don't fit.

      • Debuting on the 1964 Les Paul Custom came the ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic Bridge. This little piece of innovation changed the way that Gibson, and now many other brand, guitars functioned. The Tune-O-Matic allowed for a micro adjustment of the intonation and action height achieving a higher quality of performance. So into the Nylon mystery.
      • I'm searching for a new bridge, landed on Gotoh. The problem is, too many choices! At first I was gonna go with the standard tune-o-matic bridge, but then I changed my mind for the locking roller bridge, because I've had quite a few strings break right at the saddle. Now I've heard that...

      • Even on the Gibson Les Pauls I've owned and played there was never a need for me to flip the saddles for intonation issues. I understand over time the tune-o-matic bridge can warp and smile a bit as well as the saddles wearing down a bit... but big deal. Slap a new bridge on it and you should be good to go again. Perhaps it's fret wear over time?
